Maharashtrian Kadhi Recipe

Like other regional thali, As we know that Maharashtrian thali is balance out all five taste which gives essential flavours and nutritions. "Kadhi" is one of the key menu item in that. So today we are going to make maharashtrian style Kadhi recipe.
Maharashtrian Kadhi Recipe

This is a spiced yogurt soup/curry that is made in many different ways all over India. Here I have used curry leaves, garlic-ginger paste, green chilies, asafoetida, fenugreek seeds for flavouring.

So let get started with below ingredients.

  • 1 cup sour curd/Dahi
  • 2 tablespoon gram flour/Besan
  • 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 8-10 curry leaves
  • 10-12 fenugreek seeds/Methi dane
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 2 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • A pinch of asafoetida/Hing
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • Water as required
  • Salt
  • 2 Tablespoon Oil/Ghee
  • 1 tablespoon coriander leaves, finely chopped

Take cup of Curd/Dahi in a bowl, add gram flour, turmeric powder and salt.

Add enough water and whisk the whole mixture till they get smooth. Make sure that there should not be any lumps remaining in a mixture.

Take a Oil or Ghee in a pan then add 1 teaspoon mustard seeds after some time it will start crackling. Now add cumin seeds, Fenugreek seeds and chopped green chillies. Stir the mixture for few seconds.

Now add asafoetida/hing, ginger-garlic paste.

Add curry leaves. Stir it for few seconds then immediately add the mixture of curd.

Once it get started boiling add 1 teaspoon of sugar(Optional). Cook it for 8-10 minutes.

Maharashtrian Kadhi Recipe - Cook For 10 Minutes

Now switch off the gas and garnish tangy and sweet kadhi with chopped coriander leaves.
