Bharwan Mirchi Pakora Recipe

In our country pakoras and bajjis are fairly common snack and it will be great, If you have it along with Garama garam chai.

Specially in rainy season, this deadly combination will help you to boost your mood.

Today we are going to prepare Bhavnagri Bharwan Mirchi Pakora with step by step photo guide. It is crisp outside with mashed potato-stuffing. This is one of the most popular street food from Rajasthan and easily available on food courts and restaurants.

Bharwan Mirchi Pakora Ingredients

  • 5-6 Green Bhavnagri chillies
  • 1 cup Gram flour/Besan flour
  • 1 teaspoon Red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • A pinch of Asafoetida/Hing
  • 1 medium size Onion
  • 2 medium sized boiled Potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon mustard seeds
  • 1 teaspoon Fennel seeds
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon coriander seeds, crushed
  • 2 tablespoon Coriander leaves
  • Salt
  • Water

Bharwan Mirchi Pakora preparation

Take 4-5 fresh Bhavnagri chillies, rinse well with water then dry them on a kitchen towel.

First we are going to prepare pakora stuffing, So lets start with stuffing preparation.

Heat oil in kadai, add mustard and cumin seeds, stir them till they crackle.

Now add finely chopped onion and saute for a minute or till they get translucent.

Add Fennel seeds and stir well. You can also add slightly crushed fennel seeds.

For seasoning add turmeric powder, red chilli powder and crushed coriander seeds / coriander powder. Saute this mixture till the flavour of spices and seasoning will give you nice aroma.

Then add mashed potatoes and mix them with rest the of mixture.

Sprinkle some salt to taste and chopped coriander leaves.

Now mix potato stuffing very well, then keep aside and let it cool.

Take gram flour in a large bowl then add salt, turmeric powder and red chilli powder.

Then pour enough water to the gram flour to form a thick batter.

Slit bhavnagri chillies lengthwise and de-seed, Then fill all chillies with potato stuffing mixture.

Dip stuffed chilli into the gram flour batter and immediately drop it in heated oil.

And deep fry them at lower heat until they get golden brown colour and crispy.

Repeat the same process for rest of chillies. And place fried mirchi pakora on tissue paper to remove excess of oil.

For garnishing serve these hot stuffed Mirchi pakora with tomato ketchup or sweet and spicy curd.
